The wheels are starting to turn…………
NG’s response to ACU’s latest update:
Following the ACU’s update yesterday titled “The Wheels are starting to turn”, we understand the questions are now building up and anticipation is creeping in. There is a need today to add some calm as we continue to find ourselves in unknown territory. We are working tirelessly in the background to put plans in place to cover off every eventuality at each event and venue with one primary factor at the forefront: The safety and welfare of our officials, volunteers, medical staff, riders and their teams.
Currently we are still considering the following points: Overnight camping, guarantees that, as a minimum, event medical capability matches that available pre Covid 19. The capacity of the local NHS Trauma Unit should those services be required at the time of the event. The divide between Scottish, Welsh and English Governments which affects Anglesey and Pembrey in our case, not to mention a large percentage of our membership and race day operations team remain affected by travel restrictions. PPE availability and re-stock. More specific guidance on the numbers permitted when carrying out social and sporting gatherings, plus reassurance that the venues are compliant with Government and local authority guidelines.
While we know what is needed as a minimum criteria, many factors are outside of our control and questions remain unanswered. It is also important to remember the ACU updates and announcements cover all disciplines of motorcycle sport, some of which will be able to commence activities much sooner than others.
With several key milestones approaching – 1st and 15th June, then 4th July, things will become clearer, many of the above will be answered, then wheels definitely will start to turn.
For now, please stay safe, look after yourselves and each other and see you very soon.
